A heartfelt thank you to Dan and Grace for such a wonderful stay in Vernon. I really enjoyed my stop here.
Back on the road I was aiming for the state of Massachusetts. As I entered my state number 12 I was humming the Bee Gee song “Massachusetts” – just as I had been humming the Beach Boys song Kokomo down in Florida, Ray Charles’ Georgia On My Mind in Savannah, and Frank Sinatra’s New York, New York on Manhattan.
The landscape is very hilly. Up and down all the time which resulted in over 1000 m of vertical climbing over the course of the day. Not that I have anything against the climbing. On the contrary I love the cycling out here on the green country side of New England.
From tomorrow night and onwards I have confirmed places to stay all the way to the border with Canada. Tonight, however, I would be staying in my tent for the first time in quite a while. I found a state forest which is the perfect place to hang out for a night. The climate is also perfect these days – not too cold and not too warm for camping.
Tomorrow I should reach Boston. The last big city in the US!
I love the Bee Gees!
