I woke up feeling very tired – it might have something to do with the Tecate beers from last night. I was happy to know that there was only 60 something kilometers between Playa and Cancun, and it would be absolutely flat.
Zalo was already up and had a nice Mexican breakfast ready as I entered the kitchen. Thank you for such a wonderful but too short stay in Playa del Carmen. I hope to be back in this paradise again soon!
After saying goodbye to Zalo I was putting on my music and the kilometers went by quickly. Even though I was tired I was trying to enjoy the ride into Cancun. After all this would be the final stretch of Latin American road. It is now 17000 km and 1½ year since I left Ushuaia all the way down there in Patagonia. It seems like a long time ago – and I guess it is. What a ride!
I would have loved to spend 6 months cycling through all the rest of Mexico, but in fact I’m happy enough with my new plan; flying to Florida and continue from there up the east cost. There is a time for everything, and for now I’m pretty set on reaching Canada by the end of September before it gets cold.
After cycling through the busy suburbs of Cancun I found my hostel and parked the bike. The next time I will be riding it will be in a completely different culture…
I will miss your South and Central American posts. I’ve probably enjoyed those adventures the most! Still, USA and Canada beckons. Look forward to reading them!
