A visit to Cape Town wouldn’t be complete without a hike up Table Mountain. Normally you would be able to take a cable car there, but due to strong winds it didn’t run. I was happy enough to walk though.
During my break in Denmark I hadn’t been doing much exercising. Luckily the legs seemed to be working OK as I set off towards the summit.
As this was a Saturday I was joined by plenty of other tourists as well as locals aiming for the summit. How nice would it be to live in a city where you have a mountain like this in your backyard!
I was hiking the mountain following the Platteklip Gorge. This is the most direct way towards the summit – and some say the least scenic? I would like to see the other routes then!
The view from the summit certainly didn’t disappoint!
When I booked my ticket to Cape Town I only did so because, looking at the map, this is the natural place for any African tour to either begin or end. I didn’t have any expecations about the place itself… Only after I arrived did I realize that this is indeed one of the hottest tourist spots at the moment. Good stuff 🙂
It really is a little piece of Paradise, this tourist icon of a city. Back in Town my new Specialized bike is ready to roll. Now I’m looking forward to see what the rest of Africa looks like!
