I had enjoyed my camping night tremendously. Early fall temperatures in this part of Canada are perfect for staying out; not too hot and not too cold. After the ultra social ride lately, I also appreciated spending a night alone. Sometimes we all need a little break.
I was up by sunrise, riding towards the city of Moncton for a long lunch break. New Brunswick is a bilingual province, and I find it interesting listening to the Québécois being spoken around these parts. Out on the road I enjoyed listening to the French radio stations, trying out my skills in this language that I’m trying not to forget.
Monction is interestingly also the northernmost city I will visit on mainland North America. From here I’m heading a bit south towards Nova Scotia and Halifax. Newfoundland is further north, but that is an island.
Already while meeting Andy and Debbie in Saint John I realized that Canada is certainly not inferior to the States when it comes to hospitality. As I reached Amherst I was about to confirm this observation. I had been invited to stay with Kelsey, a friend of a friend I had never met before. As I arrived at Kelsey’s house, the preparation for a big dinner was already underway.
The menu would consist of clams, salads, chicken with vegetables, a few glasses of red wine, and a sweet ice cream desert. While the food was indeed world class, the company was even better. Is Canada the place with the friendliest people in the world? It very well might be 🙂
Thank you Kelsey and Susan for such a wonderful welcome to Amherst – a town not many people might know, but which will always have a special place in my mind!
Your food tour of the world! 🙂
Haha, and my “meeting the nicest people” tour of the world 😉
That too. 🙂
