I was spending a day in Cancun updating the blog and preparing the next part of the adventure in the US – including going to a bike store to pick up a box for the flight.
The next morning I woke up to what would be my last day in latin America – and I would be going out with a bang 🙂
In the morning a joined what seemed like a million other tourists on the small 30 minute ferry to Isla Mujeres. Another place I had already visited in 2008. What I remembered from this place was some crazy turquoise colored beaches. That was also what I found this time. In fact, in my mind this place competes with Railay in Thailand for the most beautiful beach in the world… I’m still not sure which place is winning, it’s a tough call.
My friend Zalo who I stayed with in Playa del Carmen the other day told me he would be coming to Cancun for the night. I was very happy to see Zalo at the port as I returned from the island. Zalo even gave me a traditional Mexican sombrero – and so the fun times could begin 🙂
We first went to yet another local beach for a few beers…
Then we went out to the modern hotel zone to watch the sunset and take a few more photos.
We finished the night back in Cancun with a few more beers, tacos, a traditional band, and yet another hat. What is not to love about Mexico?
My time in Mexico was short but intense. Thanks a million to Zalo for making it a little more fun. Hope to see you soon amigo. And so I am more or less ready for a new chapter on this adventure to begin. Tomorrow I will be flying to Fort Lauderdale, Florida!
You look good in the hats, Thomas!
Thanks Stephen… the only problem is that they are a bit big to bring on the bike 🙂
Will certainly miss seeing all the pictures of other countries outside of the USA!!! I’ve never been to South America but boy is it beautiful!!! Thank you so much for sharing your adventurs. Some of us will never get a chance to see all these beautiful places you are traveling to so it’s great that you share them with us!!! I’ll be waiting to see what you do in the US along the East Coast!!! Keep safe and happy travels Thomas!!!
