I found a small road on my map and decided to give it a go. I was rewarded with nice views and little traffic, but had to pay in terms of some very steep climbs. With fresh legs after the break I didn’t mind though.
Later in the day I rejoined the Panamerican highway. A narrow road without shoulder and a lot of buses and trucks sure take a lot of the fun out of cycling.
I think I needed a bit of healthy food after my time in the US.
Costa Rica means hot and humid cycling. The good thing is that clouds always start to form in the afternoon, taking the temperature down a few degrees. In the last part of the day I was trying to reach Cañas before the rain did. I made it just in time.
Checking into a cheap Chinese run hotel at the main square, I think I spoke more Spanish than the hotel mama did. I managed to spent a few hours updating the blog with stories and pictures from the US. I hope what I wrote made sense. Writing these blog posts after 100 km of cycling in very hot weather, I’m not sure my brain always work that well 🙂
Good to be back on the bike, visiting these random towns. Tomorrow I might cross into Nicaragua!
The smaller, back roads, are often more interesting. 🙂
As for your blogs, they do make sense. I always enjoy reading them!
Thanks a lot Stephen, I’m glad you enjoy the updates!
