It’s always a good idea to start with an easy day after staying put for a while. The 60 flat kilometers into Solo was a good way to get going again. Solo is home to another Kraton, simular to the one in Yogyakarta. But this one without any tourists. I had a quick look around on the bicycle.
My guide book suggested there would several cheap family run home stays in town. It also suggested that many of them where closing down due to competition from more modern (and expensive) hotels. As my guide book is 3 years old I did indeed find that many of the listed places had closed. Luckily the last place on my list was still open. I was the only guest.
