Even though I more or less knew what to expect as I entered Auswitz, it still hit me hard mentally to see all the evil actions of the Nazi regime displayed in such a direct way.
And as if Auswitz in itself was not enough, the visit to nearby Birkenau made an even greater impression – alone due to the sheer size of the camp. This is where most of the 1.5 mio people were killed.
I don’t know if it was because of the weather or because of the impressions, but I was quite literally shivering all day. Visiting Auswitz is not an experience I will forget soon.
Wow! Visiting Auswitz should me mandatory for all human beings.
Auswitz is a place that once you have been you will never forget.
Very true Alan… even today, almost 4 years later, I surely havn´t forgotten my visit to Auswitz!
These (and other) pictures, alone, are rather haunting. I can’t even begin to imagine how it feels to be actually there. Definitely a place everyone should visit.
Thomas
