I was debating with myself if I should stay another night in Coyhaique or continue north. I knew that I was now 3 days behind Michael, so I thought I might have a chance to catch him if I put in a bit of effort. On the other hand I also needed to spend some time doing a bit of shopping (new shoes and sunglasses) and update my blog, so I ended up not leaving town before 4 pm. Luckily the days are still long here.
Climbing out of Coyhaique and descending into another valley was beautiful cycling even though the wind was still trying to make things difficult. I figured it would require about the same amount of effort to cycle up the valley as down the opposite way.
I was passing a religious site near a waterfall. I had expected to see more of these places in South America, but I think Patagonia is very different and probably less religious than places further north.
Another hour of cycling later I found a perfect spot to set up camp for the night – a small public beach at Rio Mañihuales. I cooked a simple meal and was soon sound asleep.
