It was an almost surreal experience to wake up in an Australian suburb, watching the neighbors taking their kids to school in their big cars. I will take a few more days before I’m getting used to being in Australia.
I took the bike for the 50 km round trip from Palmerston to Darwin and back. The first kilometers of cycling in Australia! Roads a good, the traffic is light, and there are bicycle paths. Nothing like cycling in Asia.
Even though Darwin is the capital city of Northern Territory, it has a small town feeling to it. The atmosphere is very relaxed.
Back in Palmerston Ruth and Glen had warmed up the barbecue. The food is obviously another new thing to get used to. The size of the T-bone steak was overwhelming at first, but tasty for sure. No more rice and chicken for a while.
Over dinner we talked about the differences between Australia and Denmark. One such difference is size. When I explained that Denmark is a small country, Ruth asked if that would be like the size of Northern Territory. The length of Northern Territory is about 1500 km, so I said it would be like the distance from Darwin to Katherine. Ruth replayed “but how can you have your own language then?”. A question that I didn’t quite know how to answer.
yeah thomas…and what a language…yesterday I failed my level 4th exam..shit….jer er meget ked af det…
Hey Marta! Ahh, vær ikke ked af det. Most Danish people would probably fail that test as well 🙂
