The stomach was still not at 100% as I left Llave. Luckily there was only some 50 km to cycle to reach Puno. I hoped the cycling would be flat with not too much wind… it mostly was.
Once I reached the city, I checked into a hotel room – tonight with me own private bathroom. In certain circumstances that is a nice thing to have 🙂
Look what they have here in Peru. I almost felt like being back in tuktuk land in Asia 🙂
Puno is the most developed city I have visited for a while. With a nice central square and narrow walking streets surrounding it, I immediately liked the place. In Peru, Puno is known to be a very cold place, but after having spent a month and a half above 3500 m that wasn’t really something new to me. Quite a few travellers make it here as well, mostly to visit the islands on Lake Titicaca…
I had been considering what route to take onwards from Puno. The most obvious choice would be to continue towards Cuzco by bike, but I also have plans to visit Arequipa and climb a few mountains there – which is kind of in the other direction. I think I might leave the bike in Puno for a few days and take the bus to Cuzco where I will be meeting a good friend.
