Distance: 210.84 km! New Record
Ride time: 9:01:48
Average: 23.37 km/h
Total: 24272 km
With the steady tailwind yesterday we had cycled 100 km in half a day. With that in mind, I thought it was time to try to beat my old distance record – a record that was standing at 170 km from a day back in 2011 where I cycled from Damascus in Syria to Amman in Jordan.
I was updating Twitter as the day went along. This is how it happened – a 200 km cycling day told in 160 characters or less:
8.12 am local time, tent packed and ready for take off. Lets see what the day will bring.

First break after 64 km. Less tail wind than yesterday but I think everything is still on track for a #200kmcyclingday

100 km. That was the warm up. Legs feeling ok.

Good afternoon session to 152 km. This is where it starts to get hard. Legs still ok, biggest challenge will be keeping the but in the seat.

182 km. It's getting hard and the speed is slowing a bit. Quick icecream break, then out for the last 20 k.

Muchas gracias Rafa! Que tal por alli? I’m thinking about Spain these days because I’m in Santiago which reminds me a lot about Granada with the snow capped mountains in the background… Greetings to everyone there! Thomas
Excellent work Thomas, I enjoyed following your Tweets live as I was doing the night shift at work that day (my night.)And of course a big congratulations on a great new milestone.
Hola Thomas! Todo muy bien por aquí. Me alegro de que estés disfrutando en Santiago, aunque debe ser más montañoso que Granada (aquí no hay nieve en verano, jejejeje). Un abrazo y espero que todo siga genial!

Absolutely bonkers! I love it! 🙂
