Day 180: Hua Hin – Prachuap Khiri Khan

Posted by Thomas Andersen Posted on Apr - 07 - 2011

Distance: 103.13 km
Ridetime: 03:44:19
Average: 27.6 km/h
Total distance: 8288 km

On the way to Prachuap Khiri Khan I had a couple of exciting dog encounters. As soon as I spot a dog, I’m automatically assessing the situation: Is it a male or female dog, big or small, fat or fit, wild or tame. Based on the observations I’m getting pretty good at predicting what will happen.

Today I spotted a big male dog running towards me from a driveway. Sometimes those trained dogs will stop where the driveway meets the road. This was luckily the case this time. For a second I might think something like “Ha, stupid dog, I’m not afraid of you”. Then two or three seconds later the adrenalin hits the legs. Even if the dog has stopped I might as well speed up for the next 5 minutes – that’s what the adrenalin is there for anyway.

If the dog continues to chase the best thing is to stop, turn the cycle around and start chasing the dog. Attack is the best defense!

In Prachuap Khiri Khan I found a simple hotel room. The view from the balcony wasn’t bad though.

As usual the night market is the place to be if you are hungry, thirsty, or just want to see Thai life unfold before your very eyes.
