Day 24: Baie Mare

Posted by Thomas Andersen Posted on Oct - 27 - 2010

0 km.

As Jenny left to work on her volunteering project in the morning I went up to the mountains into the deeper Maremures region.

Public transport is pretty much non existent in this part of Romania. The good thing is that they have something even better. Hitch hiking. Jenny had explained where to stand to catch a hide between the different villages and what the going rate for the driver was. And sure enough, hitch hiking all day don’t think I had to wait for more than 10 minutes for a ride.

Back home from the mountains I met with Jenny, Mihai and Austrian Linda in town. We hiked up to a monastery above the city and enjoyed the great view before heading back into Linda’s place for some more food, Mozartkugeln and other Austrian sweets. I think I might have gained a few kilos in Baie Mare.

    Hej Thomas,
Fortsat rigtig god tur.
Mange hilsner fra det køligere nord.
